Our memories are made of 100% love.
Laughter and tears are always involved whether in happiness or sadness, and occasion always brings us together...and always, always, there is love.
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
I am a member of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants but before training I have had a very long career working within Central Government, Construction, Retail and Local Government. I have over 35 years experience of public speaking, delivering training and presenting to large groups of people.
So being a celebrant requires many of these qualities, except this is much more fun and fulfilling. My dream of becoming a celebrant started when I got married in Venice 18 years ago. I knew that I wanted a very unique ceremony, far from the traditional expectation, as that would have restricted my dream. Creating a bespoke ceremony was easier than I thought and allowed me to create something that was totally ours. Also, after losing my father 8 years ago, I started to think about how funerals should be happier; not shrouded in sadness but a celebration of a wonderful life, a 'going away party'. This suddenly became my inspiration in a strange way, and I truly believe it was a parting gift from my Dad.
I'm originally from Wales but have lived in Somerset for 16 years but I've managed to maintain a slight Welsh twang! I suppose I have a slightly quirky side too so I'm happy to create themed ceremonies, especially anything vintage. I'm also very respectful of tradition and can weave beautiful readings, poetry and music into your ceremony to make it uniquely yours.
I am happily married and have a 21 year old son and both my boys play a huge part in my life (as well as my three little dogs!). I totally appreciate the importance of marking milestone moments and believe that each of our lives is a book, it's just up to us what is written in each chapter.
